Verónica Guzmán was born in México city in 1970. In 1992 she majored from “Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara” in Graphic Design. In 1993 she started her artistic studies, in Jorge Monroy’s Watercolor Workshop; with this group she had her first exhibit in “Casa Museo López Portillo””, in Guadalajara. She traveled to Europe in 1994 and studied art during some time in Florence, Italy, in the Art School “Lorenzo di Mecici”. In 1997 she moved to León, Guanajuato, where she enrolled in Cecilia Gutiérrez’s Painting Workshop and in the Fine Arts School.  In the same year she had a Solo Exhibit in “Plaza Mayor” in León, sponsored by the “Museo de Arte de la Ciudad”. In 1998 she participated in a Series of Ephemeral Art Installations, organized by the Fine Arts School, shown at León’s Plaza Principal and Feria Municipal. In the same year she showed her work with two other artist at the “Feria Nacional del Libro” in León, in the exhibit “Expresiones, Mujeres en la Plástica Leonesa”

In 1999 she moved to Dallas, Texas where she lived for a number of years, and had her first exhibit outside her home country at “Manske Library Art Gallery”. In Dallas she continued her education in printmaking at Ann Meyer’s Workshop within Collin County Community College. In 2000 she made a Series of Prints, for the poem “Tree of Life” written by Rodolfo Naró; which was presented alongside the poet at the Art Gallery of the Museo del Tequila, in Tequila, Jalisco and in Ex Colegio Jesuita, in Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, México, in 2001. Whit this Series she has been awarded “Best of the Show” in the Arte Latino exhibition, at the African American Museum in Dallas and at the Artwalk show, with an “Award of Merit” in Santa Barbara California,

She lived in Santa Barbara, California for a year, where she exhibits the Series “Tree of Life” together with other works in Delphin Gallery and Maienza-Wilson Design Gallery and Gallery 113. The last exhibition she had in California , was in conjunction with CALM, a Child Human Rights Association were she exhibit her Childhood Moments Series at the Calm’s annual conference. She lives now in Portland , OR where she continues doing painting, paper mâché and ceramics. She had exhibit in Oregon several times, at JKS gallery, Our Dream Gallery, Maude Kerns Art Center, and Washington State University Vancouver.
